Every year, our nuns celebrate the Lunar New Year by praying to the 3,000 Buddhas.

Ordination Ceremony
June 8, 2025
Today was a big day! In the presence of the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, family, and friends, we celebrated our 12 newly ordained Buddhist nuns!

Receiving their “alms bowl.” During the Buddha’s time, a monastic had three main possessions: a razor, a water filter (to filter out bugs), and an alms bowl.
The acarya (sanskrit word for “religious teacher”) shaves off the last patch of hair, symbolizing the dedication of both teacher and student. The teacher promises to help the student through the highs and lows while the student promises to give her all on this path.

Prajnaparamita Sutra Recitation Ceremony
September 4-6, 2025
Our nuns recite the Prajnaparamita Sutra, dedicating these merits for all sentient beings, especially those who have passed away.
